Our Identity

The main focus of this foundation is to combat avoidable blindness by adopting various initiatives. Such as implementing free of cost eye camps, establishing eye hospitals, extending eye screening services to schoolchildren, and arranging ophthalmic training for eye healthcare personnel.

This Foundation has so far implemented 102 free of cost eye camps in 44 districts in Bangladesh for the poor and destitute, where 675,208 patients have been treated, 50,572 cataract operations have been carried out, and 153,308 eyeglasses have been distributed. All these services have been carried out totally free of charge.

Presently, Al Basar International Foundation manages 08 eye hospitals throughout the nation, 03 of which are situated in the capital city of Dhaka – Alnoor Eye Hospital Unit-1 and 2, Makka Eye Hospital Uttara, and Makka Eye Hospital Kakrail. The remaining five hospitals operated by the foundation are Makka Eye Hospital Rajshahi, Makka Eye Hospital Tangail, Makka Eye Hospital Rangpur, Makka Eye Hospital Joypurhat, and Makka Eye Hospital Meherpur. These hospitals render free-of-cost services to underprivileged patients.
Compared to other eye hospitals in Bangladesh, these hospitals provide patients with affordable rates if they are able to pay. The services rendered by these hospitals have yielded exceedingly positive results, with a cumulative total of 5,201,426 patients receiving treatment until 2023. Out of these patients, 242,678 underwent a range of eye surgeries, while 856,097 received eyeglasses within the same timeframe.
The foundation places significant emphasis on its school-based eye health program, which has been implemented in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, since 2014. Over the course of 2014–2023, the program has screened the eyes of 234,924 students, conducted 60 surgeries, and distributed 9420 pairs of eyeglasses.
The foundation offers an appropriate training program for its medical and administrative personnel, and is currently working towards setting up a dedicated institute for ophthalmic training in Dhaka.

Build Hospitals

Al Basar International Foundation manages seven eye hospitals throughout the nation, including two situated in the capital city of Dhaka – Alnoor Eye Hospital and Makka Eye Hospital Uttara

Free Eye Camps

To date, this Foundation has organized 99 free eye camps across 44 districts in Bangladesh, serving the poor and destitute. A total of 675,208 patients have received treatment, 50,570 cataract surgeries have been performed, and 153,505 eyeglasses have been distributed, all at no cost to the patients.

School Health Program
